In family law, you generally have to file a request for order (RFO) with the court, serve the opposing party, and then attend a hearing for the judge to make a decision on your request. For most RFO’s, you generally are asking for the court to give you an order on child support, child custody, child visitation, property control, attorney fees, and other issues.
When you submit an RFO, you should also submit a signed declaration (including any evidence attached as Exhibits) for the court to consider. If you have a complicated matter, I generally recommend you contact an attorney who can advise you the best approach on your case.
